YEAR 4

Welcome back students and families to Term 2, I hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing break from school. It’s very pleasing to see all of the students settle straight back into the school routine.

Last week, it was great to meet up with almost all of the parents at Parent/Teacher interviews. The main things that were discussed at the interviews were:

• the child’s academic progress in the classroom.
• their behavior, manner and respect in the classroom and yard.
• reminders to complete set homework in the Literacy booklet, Maths Plus book and Reading Eggs and Mathletics. Homework is due Fridays.
• supporting the child in their nightly home reading and homework tasks, practising spelling words for spelling test on Fridays.
• the class is focusing on handwriting, making sure that they are joining their writing now.
• learning times tables up to 6x automatically.

I hope that all families can support their child, to ensure that they are achieving their best academically.

In writing, the Grade 4s are working on Explanation Text. In Mathematics, the students have been trying hard to learn their timetables, to help make division and multiplication work easier to calculate automatically. The Grade 4s have been busy in Integrated Studies, labelling maps of the world, oceans and countries.

I am asking for all students to please bring a box of tissues for the classroom.
